My Mission Experience

Mission Life

Things are going good still here. Saturday, the tempurature was almost 70, and yesterday I don’t think it got out of the 30s. Today it’s supposed to be rainy and in the 40s, so that should be awesome for soccer! I love playing soccer in the rain!

We are teaching some really cool people here. This is the perfect ward to finish a mission in. I was thinking the other day: I really don’t want to get transferred to another area, and start all over, so this is really the perfect place to finish. If all goes well, there is a lady who should get baptized this Saturday. She is one of the coolest people I’ve ever met. I’m excited for all of the stuff going on here.

Let’s see…I’m really not too sure what else to say. I’m excited to see you guys…SUPER excited. Which I am scared to say, because some people around here tell missionaries how to feel . . .”You shouldn’t be excited to go home. Don’t you like being on a mission? How can you possibly want to see your family?” That doesn’t make sense…

Really though, things are going great. I really am going to miss being a missionary and the people in Oklahoma, and serving the Lord. But I’m excited to see you guys! And for snow….
See you in a bit! 🙂

Two More Baptisms Scheduled

Thanks for the letter, Dad! Things are going great here in Edmond. I’m really happy to be here. We have some really cool investigators that are progressing really well. I’m excited for them! If all goes well, we should have a baptism on Nov. 26, and one on Dec. 3. I’m really excited for these people, and love to watch people’s faith grow. That’s one of the coolest things to be a part of, and is definitly something that I will miss being a part of on such a close level.

That’s really all I’ve got to say. Haha. Nothing too crazy to report. It’s really cool to see how quickly recent converts here are grabbing on to the gospel. One of them has passed the sacrament the last 2 weeks, and they are just doing awesome. Elder Callahan is a really good missionary as well, and it’s fun to be his companion.

Well, that’s all I’ve got for you. Sorry it’s so short.

Hi Everyone!

Well, this week has been pretty straightforward as far as teaching is concerned. We have some really cool investigators, so that’s always a plus. So, there have been 3 earthquakes in the past couple of days. The first one was like a 4.3 and the next one, I thought was an aftershock, was actaully a 5.4 in a different location, it was at about 11 PM on Saturday. That was pretty cool. People in our apartment complex were freaking out. lol. Elder Callahan and I were laughing at our neighbor. He came outside yelling, “Do you want to die!? Then get outside!” Haha. People are weird. You couldn’t make a call for a while after the earthquake because the network was jammed. The whole situation was pretty comical. There is no fear in Oklahoma as far as tornados go. People stand on their porches and tape tornadoes from 100 feet away, but the ground shakes a little bit and you’d think it was 2012. There was also a 4.0 that morning in a different spot, but the only one that I felt was the 5.4. Those three plus the earthquake near Norman last year makes 4 earthquakes since I’ve been in Oklahoma. I heard that the 5.4 cracked some buildings and “buckled a highway,” whatever that means.

Well, that’s about all of the excitment that I’ve got for you. I really don’t know what else to talk about. Our investigators are doing good, and we are constantly looking for more. The University ward is really excited about missionary work, so that’s awesome. I am loving it here in Edmond. Can’t wait to see you guys though! Love you tons!

Unbelievable Weather

Hey people!
How are things going with you back in Washington? Things are going fine here in Edmond. The weather has been unbelievable. I am loving that! Well, tonight is Halloween and our mission president doesn’t want us out at all, so we are just going to study and stuff at our apartment. It should be lame! 🙂

So, how is the weather there? Has it been getting chilly at all or anything? Hopefully it snows soon. The weather this year has been freaky. It was the hottest summer on record, and now it’s getting cold faster than usual. It’s bizarre, but that sounds about right for Oklahoma weather.
Well, I really don’t have anything new to report. Everything has been about the same stuff. We played some ultimate Frisbee today with the other missionaries and some members from the University Ward. That was pretty fun. The weather was just around 70, and it was sunny, so it was the perfect day. You couldn’t ask for a better one, I don’t think.
Well, that’s about all I’ve got. I wrote Madi a letter today, and I put it in the mail, hopefully it makes it to Washington 🙂
I love you all!
